A happy home starts with self-love and mindfulness. When you think about yourself, are you being kind?
Anna Lozano and Lindy Sood advocate for positive self-affirmations.
Affirmations are a stream of thought. They typically begin with “I am.” It’s better to think positively, choosing what follows “I am” to be self-affirming. You must love and value yourself.
Mindfulness can transform your home. Positivity and joyfulness in the moment creates a more loving household. Be aware of all of your senses without judgment.
Massive change can happen when you turn those negative thoughts around. Encourage children to practice positive affirmations as well.

EP 42 - Wasted Days & Wasted Nights: The Freddy Fender Story
Wednesday May 30, 2018
Wednesday May 30, 2018
Freddy Fender rose from poverty to musical success, battled addiction, and found peace through religion.Fame can be amazing. However, many famous people get caught in the trappings of addiction.
Tammy Lorraine Huerta Fender tells the gospel truth about her father, Freddy Fender. Known as the King of Tex-Mex, Freddy wanted the whole truth of his life to be honestly shared.
Freddy was a Mexican-American singer who rose from the depths of poverty, breaking free from a life spent picking cotton and rising to a life spent picking guitar. In his youth, in 1956, he was the first to record and sing Spanish rock and roll; he was known as the “Mexican Elvis” and called “El Bebop Kid.” In the mid-1970s, Fender would become famous literally overnight as a rock ‘n’ country megastar with his first two monster hits “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” and “Wasted Days and Wasted Nights.”
Instantaneously, his records crossed over the Billboard country charts into the rock and pop charts, each rising to No. 1. He was given a Country Music Association award for “Single of the Year” and an Academy of Country Music award as “Most Promising Male Artist” in 1975. His voice and charismatic personality also made him a nationwide television celebrity in the ‘70s and ‘80s.
During his last 21 years of sobriety, Freddy sought spiritual redemption, practiced forgiveness and made amends in his daily life; he came to lead by example with the aid of his higher power Jesus Christ. Freddy Fender was known to millions of people across the world as “an ordinary man who had extraordinary God-given talents.”
Listen as Tammy joins Dr. Bond to share her memories of her father’s life of adversity and redemption.

EP 41 - The Importance of Nutrition in Cancer Care, Part 2
Wednesday May 23, 2018
Wednesday May 23, 2018
One thing you can control during cancer treatment is your nutrition. There are so many uncontrollable elements when one undergoes cancer treatment.
Jessica Iannotta advises that the one thing that a patient can control is nutrition. Consuming nutrient-rich foods that the body can tolerate can improve cancer treatment success.
Nutritional tips for cancer patients:
- Eat small, frequent meals. This allows for continual energy and reduces the distress on the digestive system during chemotherapy.
- Seek out a nutrition partner via your local cancer center. A registered dietitian on-site might help you develop a personalized nutrition plan. The letters CSO indicate a certified specialty in oncology nutrition. Every medical center has someone who can aid with a nutrition plan.
- Keep a food diary. This makes it easier to track what works for you. Share your findings with your dietitian.

EP 40 - The Importance of Nutrition in Cancer Care, Part 1
Wednesday May 16, 2018
Wednesday May 16, 2018
Nutrition matters in cancer treatment.Nutrition matters before, during and after cancer treatment.
Susan Bratton advocates for nutritional integration in cancer treatment after losing a close friend to brain cancer. Her friend was told nutrition doesn’t matter. She dove into research, finding evidence-based nutritional impact. She left her Wall Street job to found her own oncology nutrition company.
There is no structure in place in the healthcare delivery system to pay for nutritional counseling and intervention.
Poor nutrition impacts a cancer patient’s response to treatment. Malnourished patients have higher rates of toxicity and complication. These impact how well the treatment works. Cancer and its treatment cause nutrition-related side effects.
A simple way to start addressing nutrition is with the Mediterranean diet. Susan modifies this diet based on individual patient needs.
Managing nutrition is something proactive that cancer patients can do to support their healing.
Listen as Susan joins Dr. Bond to share how nutrition impacts cancer recovery.

EP 38 - Detox Your Mind
Wednesday May 02, 2018
Wednesday May 02, 2018
Take the time to detox your mind and improve your health. You know you should take a few minutes to sit still, but the demands and distractions of modern life make it difficult. Meditation can help you gain focus. You just have to figure out how to work it into your life.
Sukey and Elizabeth Novogratz say that if you’re breathing, you’re halfway to meditation. The other half is paying attention to your breath.
Misconceptions about meditation may keep you away. You don’t have to sit for hours, be perfectly still or clear out all of your thoughts. It’s okay to acknowledge your thoughts.
You may think you need to worry about things or that you can control the universe with your thoughts. Obsessive thinking creates stress. Meditation allows you to observe your thoughts and make decisions about them.
Detoxify your thoughts with these simple steps:
- Sit comfortably.
- Close your eyes.
- Take four deep belly breaths. (Inhale for three counts, exhale for three counts.)
- Keep your mind on your breathing but notice when the thoughts come.
- Start by meditating for two minutes. Slowly increase your time on a daily basis.

Wednesday Apr 18, 2018
Wednesday Apr 18, 2018
Strategize your consumption of fats and carbs.Naomi Whittel heard of autophagy a few years ago. Since then, it’s become the focus of her book.
Autophagy means “self eating” in Greek. Your cells have a process that eat away cellular debris, recycle what’s unnecessary, and replace old cells with healthy cells. The foods you eat dictate your autophagy.
One of the key principles of Glow 15 is having healthy fats first and carbs last. Choose carbohydrates with high fiber content. Consume fats in the earlier part of your day. Use those carbs wisely to give you a boost of energy later in the day.
Naomi has personal experience with an autoimmune disorder that affected her skin. She learned that good fats improved her eczema. Healthy fats also help with weight loss.
Deprivation is not the answer to autophagy and overall health.
Listen as Naomi joins Dr. Bond to share how her life has been affected by the tenets of Glow 15.

Wednesday Apr 11, 2018
Wednesday Apr 11, 2018

One bite of your favorite treat leads to a second bite, followed by a third.
Founder of Sweet Defeat Arianne Perry points out the importance of recognizing the difference between hunger and cravings. It’s fine to enjoy the sugars in fruit and dairy. The trick is that the modern diet is packed with unnecessary sugar.
Treat sugar as more of a reward. Don’t add sweets to every meal. A high sugar diet is detrimental to your health.
Arianne advocates for gymnema, an herb that helps in that sugar craving moment. She created Sweet Defeat, a mint containing gymnema that curbs that craving.
Correcting your diet will help with cravings as well.
Listen as Arianne joins Dr. Bond to share the truth about sugar and to advise on limiting your sugar intake.

Most probiotics were developed based on assumptions and hypotheses before there was much research on the gut microbiome. They need special coating to get past digestive acids to get to work in the gut.
Prebiotics act as food for bacteria. Precision prebiotics are now available to just feed the good bacteria, starving the bad bacteria in the gut.

Sean isn't just a cancer survivor; he is truly a medical marvel. He is the only person in the world ever to have been diagnosed with both Hodgkin's disease and Askin's sarcoma. He was diagnosed in the fourth and final stage of Hodgkin's disease at the age of thirteen, when doctors expected him to live for no more than three months. EP 18 - Healing Senior Depression & Becoming Socially Active Through Technology
Wednesday Dec 20, 2017
Wednesday Dec 20, 2017
The number-one thing we can do to age well (physically, mentally and emotionally) is to proactively seek out and engage in deep and meaningful connections with others. What allows individuals to age well?
The first answers that might come to mind include eating healthy, exercising, not smoking, or getting proper sleep.
But, according to researchers such as Kerry Burnight, PhD, the number-one thing we can do to age well (physically, mentally and emotionally) is to proactively seek out and engage in deep and meaningful connections with others.
This can be difficult for older adults, particularly if they are home-bound or have lost a life-long partner.
Chronic loneliness can contribute greatly to a senior's demise. There is a 64% increase in developing dementia if you identify as feeling lonely, a 29% in coronary artery disease, and a 26% increase in death.
Technology has the ability to connect humans if used appropriately. However, Dr. Burnight believes that standard technology thus far has been harming older adults. iPads and other tablets can be confusing and present functionality challenges.
Dr. Burnight joins Dr. Bond to explain how the essential apps and services on the revolutionary grandPad eliminate the clutter, distractions, and complications of other devices. This simple tablet for seniors enables users to view family photos and videos, call loved ones, send voice emails, play classic games, and listen to their favorite tunes with the touch of a button to instantly start making and sharing memories.

Wednesday Dec 13, 2017
Wednesday Dec 13, 2017
Learn how to connect in a deep and meaningful way with yourself and your money. Most of us believe that pounding our way through the days is the only path to prosperity and success.
We sacrifice time with our loved ones, our weekends, our vacations, and perhaps even our sanity, in exchange for a paycheck. We put ourselves and our health at the bottom of our priority list and give everything to the great pursuit.
We want to have it all, but don't find satisfaction in any of our achievements. Instead, we find ourselves sitting in our offices and big houses feeling unhappy, broke, burnt out, and unfulfilled.
With her book, Beautiful Money: The 4-Week Total Wealth Makeover, Leanne Jacobs offers another option.
Leanne joins Dr. Bond to explain how the book does more than show readers how to make more money, streamline personal finances, and learn how to invest and budget. The Beautiful Money program is based on the simple but powerful premise that in order to achieve true wealth, you must connect and align your inner self with clear and specific external actions.
Listen in to learn how to connect in a deep and meaningful way with yourself and your money.

Wednesday Dec 06, 2017
Naomi Judd's life as a country music superstar has been nonstop success. Offstage, she has battled incredible adversity.Naomi Judd's life as a country music superstar has been nonstop success.
Offstage, she has battled incredible adversity.
Struggling through a childhood of harsh family secrets, the death of a young sibling, and absent emotional support, Naomi found herself reluctantly married and an expectant mother at age 17. Four years later, she was a single mom of two, who survived being beaten and raped, and was abandoned without any financial support and nowhere to turn in Hollywood, CA.
Through this, Naomi has always been a survivor. She put herself through nursing school to support her young daughters, then took a courageous chance by moving to Nashville to pursue their fantastic dream of careers in country music. Her leap of faith paid off, and Naomi and her daughter Wynonna became The Judds, soon ranking with country music's biggest stars, selling more than 20 million records and winning six Grammys.
At the height of the singing duo's popularity, Naomi was given three years to live after being diagnosed with the previously incurable Hepatitis C. Miraculously, she overcame that too and was pronounced completely cured five years later.
But, Naomi was still to face her most desperate fight yet. After finishing a tour with Wynonna in 2011, she began a three-year battle with Severe Treatment Resistant Depression and anxiety. She suffered through frustrating and dangerous roller-coaster effects with antidepressants and other drugs, often terrifying therapies and, at her absolute lowest points, thoughts of suicide.
Against all odds, Naomi persevered once again.
All of these life events culminate and are captured in Naomi's new book, River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged with Hope. She joins Dr. Bond to discuss the book and how she has fought for survival time and time again.

EP 15 - How Healing from Lyme Disease Gave Me My Purpose
Wednesday Nov 29, 2017
Wednesday Nov 29, 2017
Chef Ariane Resnick joins Dr. Bond to share her personal health struggles, how she overcame them, and how she appreciates the journey because it brought her to where she is -- and who she is -- today.Ariane Resnick contracted Lyme disease without even knowing it, an increasingly common instance among the population.
Whereas acute Lyme is generally easy to treat (and cure), late-stage Lyme is typically difficult to diagnose, and symptoms are often attributed to other conditions or as psychosomatic.
Through a series of holistic practices, Ariane was able to heal herself.
