EP 14 - Beauty & The Bra: Life After a Double Mastectomy
Wednesday Nov 22, 2017
Wednesday Nov 22, 2017
One of the valuable lessons Cary learned through her cancer journey is that patients are their own best advocates. While breastfeeding her youngest daughter, Cary Goldberg discovered a lump in her breast. Thinking she could wait until her next wellness visit, Cary put off medical care.
Unfortunately, the cancer spread aggressively to nine of her lymph nodes.
Over the next five years, Cary would experience a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, radiation, biologic therapy, clinical trials, the removal of her ovaries and uterus, and daily hormone therapy that finally rendered her cancer free.
One of the valuable lessons Cary learned over this journey is that patients are their own best advocates. You don't have to necessarily accept the answer given you, and you shouldn't feel bad about being the "squeaky wheel."
Another positive outcome was that Cary learned about the bra company Handful from a neighbor and finally found the answer for her search for a bra that would work for her breastless body. Realizing that there were other modern, active, flat and fabulous survivors who might benefit from the Handful Bra, Cary enthusiastically went to work managing survivor relations.
Listen as Cary joins host Dr. Bond to share her story, as well as what sets Handful apart from other bra companies.

EP 13 - Making Paleo Portable in Today’s World
Wednesday Nov 15, 2017
Wednesday Nov 15, 2017
Eating a Paleo lifestyle refers to a commitment to eating real, whole unprocessed foods that are more healthful than harmful to your body. The phrase Paleo or what has been come to known as “The Paleo Diet” refers to a commitment to eating real, whole unprocessed foods that are more healthful than harmful to your body.
According to Robb Wolf, research biochemist, the Paleo diet is the "healthiest way you can eat because it is the ONLY nutritional approach that works with your genetics to help you stay lean, strong and energetic. Research in biology, biochemistry, ophthalmology, dermatology and many other disciplines indicate it is our modern diet, full of refined foods, trans fats and sugar, that is at the root of degenerative diseases such as obesity, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, depression, and infertility."
To creators of PaleoPro Bill Fitzsimmons and Doug Smith, “Paleo” is more than just a word on a package... it’s a lifestyle for those devoted to and passionate about their everyday health and performance.
Listen as Bill and Doug join Dr. Bond to share the benefits of eating a Paleo lifestyle, as well as why it's important to choose Paleo products that are void of soy, artificial ingredients, and harmful chemical preservatives.

Through any setbacks -- heartaches, failures, injuries, or plain fatigue from the rigors of the biz -- Aronoff has stayed the arduous and wild rock 'n' roll course. The tale he tells in his book, Sex, Drums, Rock 'n' Roll!: The Hardest Hitting Man in Show Business, describes what is possible with unrelenting dedication to one's bliss is an inspiration to all.
In addition to his work as a world-famous recording and touring drummer, Aronoff finds time to be a dedicated teacher and has shared his expertise with students all over the world, teaching clinics for Tama and Zildjian.

Alana also shares how she has maintained her healthy lifestyle -- both inside and out -- and as Dr. Bond puts it, "beats Father Time."
A few tips from Alana:
- Reduce stress
- Eat organic when possible
- Avoid food additives and preservatives
- Limit meat (or choose organic, grass-fed, etc.)
- Avoid EMFs (e.g. microwaves) and BPA from plastics
About the Farrah Fawcett Foundation
After being diagnosed with cancer in 2006, Farrah Fawcett started the Farrah Fawcett Foundation in 2007. She was committed to finding a cure for her cancer and to personally over see her foundation.
Unfortunately, events took a different turn and after seeking various treatments including alternative choices, she passed away on June 25, 2009.
Farrah wanted to help further cutting edge research and was particularly interested in alternative practices. She often wondered why there was not more research done with this type of cancer and hoped to be able to contribute to this less known area of the disease.
Farrah cared deeply about those less fortunate than she; those struggling with financial hardships as a result of their diagnosis.

Wednesday Oct 18, 2017
Wednesday Oct 18, 2017
One question lies behind every struggle we face: how do I deal with myself? One question lies behind every struggle we face: how do I deal with myself?
Behind all our stumbles, behind each of our missteps, behind every one of our failings lies an inability to handle what Van Moody calls the “I-Factor.”
More than self-worth or self-respect, beyond even character and perception of purpose, the I-Factor is about managing yourself—your whole life—well. In his inspiring new book by the same name, Moody reveals how to get hold of your I-Factor.
Moody identifies three dynamics essential to winning the battle of the I-Factor: identity, significance, and perspective. When you understand your identity you know who you are, setting your foundation for everything. When you understand your significance, you see the purpose and the greatness you were created for. And, when you understand perspective, you can view the problems you face as stepping-stones to greatness rather than stumbling blocks.
Properly understand these three dynamics, and you will be able to master your I-Factor.
Weaving together personal stories, practical principles, and profound biblical truth, The I-Factor provides the key to achieving the life of greatness that you are destined for.
Listen as Van joins Dr. Bond to discuss the concept of the I-Factor.

Wednesday Sep 27, 2017
Wednesday Sep 27, 2017
Men need to be aware, acknowledge, and adapt to the hormonal shifts women experience both monthly and as they age.Remember that thing your significant other used to do when you were 28 that you thought was so cute and charming? Now that you're 45, it might be the thing that makes you want to punch him in the face.
This doesn't arise from a mental imbalance, but rather a hormonal one.
Women experience the most hormonal stability between 25 and 35 years old. Then, sex hormones tend to flux up and down until they reach an equilibrium after menopause ends.
These fluctuations can cause both emotional "symptoms" such as irritation, anger or aggression and physical symptoms such as vaginal dryness.
Men need to be aware, acknowledge, and adapt to the hormonal shifts women experience both monthly and as they age.
Chia Chia joins Dr. Bond to explain how women's hormones impact their male counterparts, as well as discuss the various ways to address hormone imbalance and hormone loss.

EP 3 - How to Fight FATflammation
Tuesday Sep 05, 2017
Tuesday Sep 05, 2017
Are you consistently overweight, no matter what you do?Are you consistently overweight, no matter what you do? Have you tried everything? Are you plagued by stubborn fat hanging around your hips, thighs, and belly? Well, there's a reason for that. All those frustratingly pointless diets and exercise regimes have failed to address the root cause of weight gain.
According to Dr. Lori Shemek, a successful diet isn't centered on calories or cardio. She says, "Cutting calories doesn't cut it." Our problems with fat are created because we eat foods that cause the body's natural fat cells to become inflamed.
Sadly, the staples of the Standard American Diet -- from pasta and bread to factory-farmed chicken and cattle, from sugar and artificial sweeteners to salad dressing and soft drinks -- irritate our fat cells, causing chronic inflammation and chronically oversized fat cells. This irritation causes the body to store fat permanently, no matter how hard you exercise or how diligently you cut back on calories.
Dr. Shemek calls this serious condition FATflammation, and only when you decrease the inflammation of the fat cells can you achieve the weight loss and optimum health you've been chasing. We need to forget about counting calories, counting points, fad diets, no-fat diets, and spending countless hours at the gym.
Dr. Shemek joins Dr. Bond to discuss the idea behind FATflammation, as well as the following key topics:
- Core Underlying Cause of Weight Gain
- Low-Level Inflammation
- The Calorie Myth
- The Fat Myth
- Gut Health
- Foods Many Believe are Healthy (But Are Not)
- Supplements are Necessary for Optimal Health
