EP 307 - Kim Carson Talks about Her Husband Jeff Carson’s Last Album 448

Jeff Carson’s last album, 448 is a 9-track, never-to-be-completed swan song by a man who lived a praiseworthy life. 

 

Lauded by both the Academy of Country Music and the Police Academy, in 2009, after charting 14 singles, including mid-‘90s Billboard-topping “Not On Your Love” and Top-5 father-son anthem “The Car,” Jeff Carson walked away from the music industry completely, and for all the right reasons–to pursue a career in law enforcement, focus on family, and be a strong role model and dad to his son Dayton. 

 

He would serve the Franklin, Tenn. Police Department for 14 years with accommodation.

 

After a 22-year absence from the music scene, but with the recent resurgence of ‘90s country music in the mainstream, Jeff Carson was encouraged to return to the studio to re-record an album of his greatest hits. Michael Jann, who is an Emmy-nominated late-night comedy writer and for over 20 years wrote for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. 

 

Michele Jourdan is Michael’s wife, she is his writing partner, and a gold-medal-winning body builder.

 

Their incredible animated short film BUG THERAPY uses humor and entertainment to break the ice on this very important topic.  

 

Michael and Michele made BUG THERAPY themselves, with Dream Works veteran Jason (Rise-Ig) directing.

This Louisiana girl was raised on several authentic southern staples: the Bible, Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church’s choir, Charley Pride, Loretta Lynn, and Aretha Franklin to name a few. 

 

She is a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, where she served as an enlisted soldier and as an officer. 

 

She has new music on the way through her global music distribution deal with Brown Lee Entertainment and The Orchard. 

EP 295 - Ride Away the Stigma: Ride for Mental Health with Mac Dorris

Mac Dorris, who founded The Ride for Mental Health inspired by his son, Eric. Eric struggled with mental health issues as a young man. He was eventually diagnosed with borderline personality disorder among other conditions, and tragically died of an accidental overdose at the age of 21. 

 

Mac, an avid cyclist, created The Ride to honor his son’s life, and to shine a light of hope and caring for others. Eric’s memory lives on in the important work being funded by The Ride for Mental Health, and in the moments of connection and camaraderie that make the event so rewarding.

EP 294 - Actor / Director / Photographer Juan Escobedo Discusses His Storytelling Through Film and Photography

Juan Escobedo is a multi-talented award-winning actor, director.

 

He is also a very talented photographer with his photography being widely praised. The Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs started publishing Mr. Escobedo’s photography in 2012 as part of the City of Los Angeles Heritage Month Celebrations. 

 

One of his most notable works of photography, Trash and Tears, was a series of photographs depicting models posing, surrounded by trash in an attempt to explore the issues of hoarding, mental health, poverty, and drug addiction.  

 

Recently, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture launched the Collective Memory Installation as part of its Illuminate LA initiative. 

 

Mr. Escobedo, was selected to exhibit his work titled, El Sombrero de Miguel Lopez, which pays homage to his late grandfather and one of our topics today.

EP 292 - War Room’s Karen Abercrombie Discusses New Faith Film ‘Heaven Sent’

Karen Abercrombie is an award-winning actress, an award winning storyteller and independent film producer.

 

Best known for her award-winning portrayal of the spicy, 80-year-old prayer warrior, Miss Clara, in the Kendrick Brothers film, War Room.

 

But Karen has an impressive body of work under her belt. She has guest starred on such TV shows as “Saved By The Bell”, “The Inspectors”, “Vampire Diaries”, “Ally McBeal”’, and “Strong Medicine” to name a few. 

 

She has also played recurring characters on OWN’S series, “Delilah” and AMC’S, series, “Turn”. As for the stage, Karen has a long list of professional credits to her name. 

 

In 2018, Karen formed Earth Mother Entertainment, an independent film production company. Her first film, “Discarded Things” has garnered five Best Actress awards for Karen's role in the film, two Best Picture awards, and three Best Supporting Actor awards.

EP 291 - British Actor Jeremy Swift on Ted Lasso Season 3

Our esteemed guest is actor Jeremy Swift and many of you who are big fans of Downton Abbey where he played Mr. Spratt (Dame Maggie Smith’s butler) and Leslie Higgins in Ted Lasso, well he is here with us tonight!

 

He has been seen in 'Mary Poppins Returns' directed by Rob Marshall for Disney. Jeremy has also worked with legendary film directors such as Roman Polanski in Oliver Twist, Robert Altman in Gosford Park and The Wachowski Siblings in Jupiter Ascending.
